| Our trip to Costa Rica was lots of fun! We shot videos for eco friendly businesses and animal rescue groups to help them promote themselves. In addition we are editing a documentary about green living and animals in Costa Rica. With video we would like to help support reading, literacy and getting libraries or internet access programs to rural schools in Costa Rica. We stayed only in resorts which support the wildlife and green-living. The country has a diverse ecology including rainforest and volcanos, and we got lots of great video of exotic animals. The people of Costa Rica are very cool as well, as is evidenced by an abundance of sustainable living practices.
Places we visited and filmed
When we flew in to San Jose, the Costa Rican capitol, our first stop was Pura Vida, an eco lodge on near the Poas Volcano. The lodge has a beautiful garden with many species of native plants, including a number of orchids and passionfruit flowers. Turtle Beach Lodge. Located in a nature preserve in Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast and famous for it's, you guessed it, turtles. Green and Hawksbill turtles deposit their eggs in the summer and early fall.
Cashew Hill Jungle Cottages located in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. We took a boat from Turtle Beach Lodge for a beautiful ride south to the Caribbean coast near Puerto Viejo. Dark sand beaches, surfers riding pounding waves, dolphins, and beautiful coral reefs were waiting for us. We also visited a school in a remote village near the Poas Volcanao. The school is being re-built after being destroyed in an earthquake this past January. The kids there need a library and internet access. |
